As a new dad I learned the hard way—stumbling forward, guided by love and doing my best. The Initiation is the experience and community I would have loved to have as a young father. Gather-in the wisdom of generations of men. You don’t have to do this alone.
As men we often focus on the King, Warrior, Magician, Lover quartet of mythic roles. But in the end, there’s one role that often defines how you’ll feel about your life success: Father.
The challenge is that it’s a new “job” that comes with little, no, or bad training.
What isn’t transformed in us is transmitted.
Fatherhood tests us like nothing else in life.
- You can be tough on the field, but when you’re exhausted can you be tender-strong with a newborn?
- You can hook-up for sex, but can you be truly vulnerable and intimate with a sad two-year old?
- You can lead at work, but can you slow down and be present with the kindergartener who wants your attention?

Fatherhood – The Initiation is an intense and rewarding 8-week structured initiation into masculine parenting. Each weekly 2-hour session via Zoom we’ll explore one step on the emotional and behavioural path from your dependent child-oriented self to your confident, calm and compassionate father self. You’ll explore your family history, identify your hopes and fears and get honest with yourself about your coping mechanisms and emotional self-regulation.
The power of men-in-community: Your initiation will be witnessed by other men, and you’ll bear witness to their struggles, growth and transformation. The Initiation experience includes weekly peer-sessions, self-discovery exercises, skills building and core readings.
Are you ready for Initiation? This is an experience for a wide range of men: soon-to-be dads, men contemplating fatherhood, dads in the throes of the new role, and fathers of children who know they’re “dad” on the outside—but are struggling to live-up to what they want of themselves on the inside.
